Course Description

This course has been designed for those who wish to gain further knowledge of data protection principles and the practical application of same. Upon course completion candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:

• Knowledge and practical application of data protection and associated laws in a range of complex scenarios
• An understanding of managing data protection and associated legislation
• An ability to manage risks associated the personal data in an organisational context.

Learners can add on our Diploma in Managing Data Protection Compliance (SCQF Level 10) to get both courses at a reduced rate. The Diploma is a self-paced practical work based project that on average takes 6 weeks to complete, and must be completed no later than 18 months after the Certificate in Managing Data Protection Compliance. Module 5: Responsibilities on Controllers and Processors including Information Security, Data Protection Officers and Transfers

Module 6: The Application of Exemptions

Modules 7, 8, & 9

Module 7: PECR and other Associated Legislation

Module 8: Interpretation and Practical Application of the Legislation – Codes of Practice

Module 9: Data Protection and Managing Risk

Module 10, Revision & Assessment

Module 10: the Role of Information Governance in Data Protection Compliance

Revision: 1-2- hour long session with the course tutor.

There is a choice of assessment:
Attend an online live exam (short and long answer) which is booked at a time that is convenient for you OR
Submit a portfolio of evidence plus a viva
